Volleyball Tigers add depth to 2016-2017 lineup

(Halifax, N.S.) Dalhousie University men’s volleyball coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Kobe Shannon to the Tigers 2016-2017 lineup.

Shannon joins the Tigers after a successful career with the Tigers Volleyball Club and the Citadel High School volleyball team.  He helped Citadel capture a Metro championship in 2013, a provincial championship in 2014 and a regional and metro championship this past season. He was named Citadel’s rookie of the year in 2013.

A 6’6 left side player, Shannon was named the 18U Tigers most improved player in 2015 and was an all-star at the Dal High School Classic in 2015.

“Kobe is the type of athlete that I think fits well into our program,” says Ota. “He has a high ceiling, a lot of room for growth, and is committed to improvement. I see him playing an important role in the future of our program as we begin to rebuild our core and attempt to transition to another successful cycle of championship volleyball.”

A native of Halifax, Shannon has been accepted to Dalhousie’s Faculty of Science and hopes to pursue a degree in engineering.

“I’m excited to be attending Dalhousie this September,” says Shannon. “I look forward to the upcoming year with the Tigers.”

The Dalhousie Tigers finished the regular season first in AUS standings. Game two of the Subway AUS Championship series takes place Saturday, February 27 at UNB. The Varsity Reds currently lead the series 1-0.
