Tigers sweep Thunderbirds

(Halifax, N.S.) After suffering a 3-2 loss to the Thunderbirds last night, the Tigers swept today's match 3-0.

The match started off with much of the back and forth play of last night's game until the Tigers started to widen the scoring gap midway through the first set. They led by as many as nine points and never looked back, taking the first set 25-18.

UBC got off to an early lead to start off the second. After trading points most of the set, both teams enjoyed a narrow lead at different points in the set until the Tigers pressed to take the second set 25-20.

In the third and final set of the match, both teams enjoyed a couple of three and four point runs to push them ahead of the other, until the techincal time out when the Tigers rallied to put some distance between them and the Thunderbirds, winning 25-19.

Kristen O'Brien had a match-high 14 kills and added seven digs. Justin Lynch added eight kills and five digs of his own, while Jonathan Macdonald had 38 assists, seven digs, three aces and two stuff blocks. Mac McNicol led the Thunderbirds with 10 kills and Milan Nikic had 26 assists and two aces.

The Tigers host the first of three AUS-RSEQ Interlock events October 23 and 24 while the Thunderbirds head to Trinity Western October 9 and 10.
