Tigers fall to Huskies in last home game

The Dalhousie Tigers fell to Saint Mary's Huskies with a final score of 9-4 on Wednesday in Halifax.
The Huskies took an early lead in the first period with a goal by Dennis Busby at 2:21, followed by Ben Allison's goal at 4:03. They continued their scoring streak with Ben Roger's goal at 6:37, with an assist from Derek Gentile. Shortly after, Dennis Busby scored his second goal of the period at 7:02 during a power play. Dalhousie responded with their first goal at 16:14 by Brody Fournier, assisted by Liam Peyton and Evan MacKinnon. The period concluded with the Huskies leading 4-1.
In the second period, the Huskies capitalized early with Nathan Dunkley scoring at 6:14, followed shortly by a goal from Declan McDonnell at 7:02, both contributing to an initial lead. The Tigers fought back with Joseph Serpa netting a power-play goal at 11:36, assisted by Brody Fournier and Jared Cosman. This was quickly followed by another goal for Dalhousie at 13:18 from Liam Peyton, assisted by Evan MacKinnon, narrowing the gap. However, the Huskies extended their lead again with a power-play goal by Charlie Da Fonseca at 14:28, concluding the period with a 3-2 score in favor of the Huskies for the period and an overall lead of 7-3.
The third period began with an early goal by the Huskies' Ben Boyd at 1:06, assisted by Nathan Dunkley and Declan McDonnell, bringing their lead to 8-3. Dalhousie quickly responded with a goal from Joseph Serpa at 1:23, assisted by Ryan Del Monte and Zach Welsh, narrowing the gap to 8-4. The Huskies maintained control of faceoffs, winning a majority, and extended their lead to 9-4 with a goal by Caelan McPhee at 10:48, assisted by Connor Trenholm and Will Thompson. Despite numerous attempts, Dalhousie's Nicholas Chenard made several key saves, with the Huskies failing to convert on multiple shots throughout the period.
Brody Fournier stood out on the Dalhousie team with a goal and an assist from two shots, making him a key player in offensive contributions. Joseph Serpa also made a significant impact, scoring two goals and adding a power-play goal, leading the team in goals scored. Liam Peyton contributed with both a goal and an assist, while also being active in faceoffs with 16 wins and 25 losses. Evan MacKinnon provided playmaking ability with two assists, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. These players were essential to Dalhousie's performance, each making unique contributions in their respective roles.
