REDS beat Tigers 6-3

The Dalhousie Tigers fell to the University of New Brunswick REDS with a final score of 6-3 on Saturday in Halifax.
The first period between Dalhousie and the REDS began with Dalhousie dominating faceoffs, winning four consecutive initial faceoffs including the first one at 00:00. Dalhousie took the lead at 4:49 with a goal by Colin MacDougall, assisted by Ryan Del Monte and Barret Kirwin. The REDS responded with a goal by Emmett Sproule at 8:11, and later took the lead with Sam McGinley's goal at 14:33. Dalhousie quickly equalized with a goal from Liam Peyton at 14:49, but the REDS regained the lead at 19:25 through a goal by Michael Petizian, ending the period with the REDS leading 3-2.
The second period began with the REDS capitalizing on a power play opportunity after Ryan Del Monte of Dalhousie was penalized for hooking at 00:48. Although the REDS dominated the faceoffs and took multiple shots, Alexander MacDonald of Dalhousie made several saves to keep them scoreless during this power play. Despite Dalhousie having their own power play opportunities, the REDS' Camaryn Baber scored at 13:41, marking his first goal of the season. Later in the period, Kale McCallum extended the REDS' lead with a goal at 18:22, assisted by Sean McGurn and Emmett Sproule, bringing the period's score to 2-0 in favor of the REDS and increasing their overall lead to 5-2.
The third period began with Dalhousie's Barret Kirwin winning the faceoff against the REDS' Camaryn Baber. Dalhousie quickly capitalized with a goal by Brody Fournier, assisted by Kirwin and Colin MacDougall at 00:50. The REDS responded with a goal from Nicolas Savoie, assisted by Kale McCallum and Drew Elliott at 04:57, leveling the scoring for the period. Dalhousie goaltender Alexander MacDonald faced a series of shots, making multiple saves, especially during a late power play following a penalty on Barret Kirwin for roughing at 17:59.
Brody Fournier stood out as a key player for Dalhousie, notching one goal and one assist, with a power-play goal among his highlights. Colin MacDougall also made an impact with one goal and one assist, contributing positively with a plus-minus of +1. Liam Peyton contributed one goal, which was a power-play goal, and balanced his offensive and defensive play with 10 faceoffs won. Barret Kirwin led in assists with two, adding to his strong faceoff performance, winning 10 out of 13. Alexander MacDonald, as the goaltender, recorded 57 saves in his start despite allowing six goals.
The Tigers return to the Fourm on Wednesday for their final home game of the season.
