MacDougall scores in loss to X-Men
Colin MacDougall scored his team-leading ninth goal in the loss Thursday.
The Dalhousie Tigers fell to StFX with a final score of 6-1 on Thursday in Antigonish.
StFX took the lead early in the first period with a goal by Simon Motew at 00:46, assisted by Connor Roberts and Charlie Callaghan. The team continued to pressure Dalhousie, with Zack Trott scoring the second goal at 07:31, assisted by Logan Chisholm and Antonino Pugliese. The X-Men capitalized on their offensive momentum, with Alex Christopoulos adding a third goal at 14:07, also assisted by Trott and Chisholm. The Tigers struggled to convert on their power play opportunities, and numerous shots were saved by StFX's goalie Lucas Pfeil, leaving Dalhousie scoreless at the end of the period.
The second period saw the X-Men establish a strong lead with three goals, beginning with Logan Chisholm's goal at 1:32, assisted by Alex Christopoulos. StFX continued their offensive pressure with Simon Motew scoring at 4:34, also assisted by Christopoulos and Zack Trott. Despite multiple attempts, Dalhousie was unable to capitalize on their chances, including a power play opportunity following a high-sticking penalty on Jacob Stewart at 9:52. The period concluded with Alex Christopoulos scoring again at 16:24, cementing the X-Men's dominance in the period and extending their lead to 6-0.
The third period saw the Tigers making a strong offensive push, culminating in a goal by Colin MacDougall at 13:57, assisted by Joseph Serpa. Despite this successful play, Dalhousie struggled to capitalize on their opportunities earlier in the period, with multiple shots either blocked or saved by StFX goalie Lucas Pfeil. Following MacDougall's goal, the Tigers faced a setback when Ryan Del Monte received a two-minute penalty for boarding at 14:42, giving the X-Men a power play. However, Dalhousie's defense held strong, preventing StFX from scoring during the power play, despite several shot attempts, including a hit pipe by Raegan Wiles at 15:37.
