X-Men beat Tigers 6-2

ANTIGONISH, NS - The STFX X-Men notched a pair of powerplay goals and a shorthanded marker enroute to a 6-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Wednesday night at the Charles V Keating Centre.
STFX forward and second star of the game Zack Trott (Mulmur, ON) opened the scoring eight minutes into the game, sniping one from in close while STFX was on the powerplay. Alex Christopoulos (Richmond Hill, ON) and Charlier Callahan (Toronto, ON) assisted. The goal kicked off the annual Teddy Bear Toss with stuffed animals hitting the ice.
The Tigers looked to get back in the game late in the period, but STFX goalie Luca Pfeil (Owen Sound, ON) and the STFX penalty kill kept the score 1-0 going into intermission. Shot sat the end of 20 minutes were 12-6 in favour of STFX.
Dalhousie replied early in the second period, with defender Jarrett Baker (Black Rock, NS) skating in from the point and wristing one high. Brody Fournier (Perth, ON) and Evan MacKinnon (Beaverbank, NS) assisted.
STFX regained the lead five minutes later, with third star Ben Mercer (Halifax, NS) pouncing on a rebound from a Reagan Wiles (Calgary, AB) point shot and finding the back of the net, again on the powerplay. Dallas Farrell (Cardigan PE) had the other assist.
First star and Gabriel Pizza Player of the Game Logan Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) made it a two-goal game four minutes later, tapping in a shot from Wiles, with Trott also assisting.
STFX rookie Jacob Maillet (Dundas, ON) added a shorthanded goal with six minutes to go in the period, getting the last stick to the puck off a scramble in front of the Dalhousie net. Ethan Burroughs (Georgetown, ON) had the helper.
Trott added his second of the game four minutes into the third period, rifling a shot off the water bottle, with Mercer and Clark Webster (Kensington, PE) assisting. Chisholm added his second of the night a minute later, one-timing a pass from Burroughs.
Steven Krulicki (Wellesley, ON) got one back for the Tigers with five minutes to go, banging home a rebound from a Ryan Del Monte (Mississauga, ON) point shot.
Dalhousie pushed for more but Pfeil, who finished the night with saves 29 saves, kept the door shut. Dalhousie netminder Alexander MacDonald (Truro, NS) had 45 saves on the night.
The X-Men wrap up the first half of their season with a road game in Charlottetown against UPEI on Friday, November 29. The Tigers have one more game before the holiday break, a home game with the UPEI Panthers on Saturday, November 30.
