The Dalhousie Tigers fell to the StFX X-Men 4-3 in overtime Wednesday night at the Halifax Forum.

Evan MacKinnon (Beaverbank, NS) opened the scoring for the Tigers on a two-on-one with Alec Belanger (Quebec, PQ) 5:34 into the game.

Belanger scored a goal of his own 8:01 into the period. It came from a shot from the left boards on the powerplay with StFX's goaltender screened.

Shortly after, StFX responded. Josh Nelson (Lockport, IL) received a pass from Matthew Struthers (Milton, ON) in front of the Dal net. Nelson capitalized on the opportunity, making it 2-1.

Dal took just 21 seconds to respond to the X-Men's goal. Jarrett Baker (Black Rock, NS) scored his second goal of the season, giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead.

The X-Men had multiple chances in the period's final minute in front of the Dal net. However, the Tigers held strong, keeping a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

The X-Men opened the second period with a goal from Connor Roberts (Owen Sound, ON). Charlie Callaghan (Toronto, ON) and Conner Bruggen-Cate (Langley, BC) assisted the goal.

The X-Men put the puck on goal off the faceoff, resulting in a rebound that Roberts shot into the back of the net. Roberts' goal made it a 3-3 game 3:44 into the third period.

Jacob Hudson (Antigonish, NS) broke through with just under eight minutes left of the third period with a handful of beautiful moves, but MacDonald made the stop.

Both teams could not capitalize on a game-winner in 60 minutes, bringing the game to overtime.

Charlie Callaghan, 58 seconds into overtime, roofed the puck above MacDonald for the game-winner.

StFX will play the UPEI Panthers on Friday at 7pm.

The Tigers grabbed a much-needed point and next play on Saturday, hosting the UPEI Panthers.
