The Moncton Aigles Bleu beat the Dalhousie Tigers 6-1 in AUS men's hockey action on Friday night.
Moncton was all over the Tigers early, outshooting them 11-0 in the first 10 minutes of the period. The Tigers issues escalated when they took back-to-back penalties to give Moncton a 5-on-3 power play. The Aigles Bleu's Nathael Roy (Levis, QC) capitalized on the opportunity that was presented when he found a way past Tigers goalie Connor Hicks (Kanata, ON) to make it 1-0. Moncton extended their lead less than 5 minutes later when the Tigers were sent to the box again. Roy again found a way past Hicks for his second goal of the game. Things started to turn for the Tigers as they were able to make Moncton's goalie, Felix-Anthony Ethier (Deux-Montagnes, QC), work and get some pucks on net. The teams headed to the locker rooms with Moncton up 2-0.
Early in the second period, Roy completed his hat trick with the period's only goal.
The Tigers penalty troubles continued in the third period, heading to the box three times. They were able to kill them all off, but the goal light still got a workout in the third. Scoring started in the 12th minute, when the Tigers Ethan O'Rourke (Prince George, BC) clawed one back. Less than a minute later, Moncton's Maxime Boudreau regained their 3-goal lead. Remy Anglehart (Gascon, QC) added two more goals late in the period to win the game 6-1.
Roy was named the Subway player of the game with 3 goals.
The Tigers continue their New Brunswick road trip on Saturday when the travel to Fredericton to battle the top team in the country – the UNB REDS. Moncton travel to Antigonish to face the X-Men on Saturday at 7pm.
