(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Kelly Bent to the Tigers for the 2016-17 season.

Bent joins the Tigers after a successful QMJHL career. A six foot forward, he spent his last two seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads, earning a total of 26 points. Last season he scored six goals, had nine assists while accruing 150 penalty minutes in 54 games.  In the 2014-15 season, he had two goals, nine assists and 160 penalty minutes in 58 games. Before joining the Mooseheads, Bent played for the Saint John Sea Dogs where he collected four goals, two assists and 120 penalty minutes in the 2013-14 season.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Tigers, says Bent. “The team has a great history and a bright future and I look forward to contributing to their future success. Having played with a number of the current players, I think it will be an easy transition for me. It’s an honour to be able to attend and compete for Dalhousie.”

A Halifax native, Bent received the Mooseheads humanitarian and community involvement player of the year. He has been accepted into the Bachelor of Arts program at Dalhousie.

“Kelly plays with a high level of energy and enthusiasm,” says Donnelly. “He brings a physical edge to the game, but also has a scoring touch in and around the net. We expect that he will fit right in with our style of play and be an effective penalty killer as well

The Tigers will be looking to build off their strong end to the 2015-16 campaign and make a strong push for the playoffs in 2016-17.
