Hockey Tigers add Alex Pawelczyk to 2016-17 roster

(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Alex Pawelczyk to the Tigers for the 2016-17 season.

Pawelczyk comes to the Tigers after four seasons with the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes.

A 6’5 forward, Pawelczyk logged 280 games in his four years with the Cataractes, averaging 45 points over the last three seasons. This past year, he had 23 goals and 10 assists in the regular season and added another seven goals (11 points) in Shawinigan’s second-place QMJHL playoff run.

“I am very excited to have the chance to play for Dal,” says Pawelczyk. “The hockey program has been getting better and better each year and I definitely want to be a part of the Tigers growth. I can’t wait to get on the ice and start working with the guys to continue building on that success.”

A native of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Pawelczyk was the Cataractes’ student of the year in 2013-14. He has been accepted into the Bachelor of Computer Science program at Dalhousie.

“We are looking forward to having Alex join our program,” says Donnelly. “As an assistant captain with the Cataractes the last two seasons, we will benefit from Alex’s leadership ability. His physical style of play and his scoring touch will be a big boost to our offence.”

The Tigers will be looking to build off their strong end to the 2015-16 campaign and make a strong push for the playoffs in 2016-17.
