Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announce the commitment of Ukiah Best for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, the 5’11 point guard plays for John Abbott College. This past season he averaged 13.5 points per game, 4 assists per game, and 5 rebounds per game. In his 2023-24 season, he averaged 11.5 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 4 rebounds per game.
"Coming to Dalhousie and playing basketball for the Tigers is an incredible opportunity,” says Best. “I chose Dal because of the immediate connection I felt with Coach Plato, the rest of the coaching staff and the team. I’m extremely excited to compete at a high level, grow as a player, and contribute to the team’s success throughout my time at Dal.”
Best will be studying commerce at Dalhousie.
“Ukiah is a solid ball handler and is at his best when pushing the ball and playing in transition,” says Plato. “The addition of a pass first point guard who consistently pushes the ball and gets touches for all teammates, will be a welcome addition to the Tigers who struggled on offense in the
transition game. Ukiah will be counted on to make an immediate impact with the Tigers.”
The Tigers finished their season with a 6-13 record, outside of a playoff position.
