Capers beat Tigers 98-70

The Cape Breton University CAPERS defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 98-70 in AUS Men's Basketball action on Friday, February 14 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
The CAPERS and the Tigers exchanged the lead several times in the first quarter with the CAPERS pulling ahead by 2 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw similar action as the score remained close until about the halfway mark when CBU began to widen the gap by as much at 13 points. The teams headed to the locker room at the half with the CAPERS up 46-34.
The Tigers fought hard in the third but struggled to defend the strong CAPER offence. The Tigers netted 19 points in the quarter, but the CAPERS increased the lead to 17, ending the quarter with a score of 70-53.
The CAPERS continued to dominate on offence despite the defensive efforts by DAL. The game ended with CBU ahead by 28 points.
Gabe Damey led the charge for the Tigers netting 16 points and 3 rebounds. Caleb Stewart added 10 points, 3 assists and 5 rebounds and Lydell Husbands-Browne chipped in with 9 points and 4 rebounds.
Liai Tong, the Subway player of the game was the top scorer for the CAPERS with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Shak Pryce added 15 points with 7 assists and 5 rebounds and Tyson Cato also added 10 points with 9 rebounds.
The CAPERS and the Tigers will face off again at the Sullivan Fieldhouse tomorrow, February 15. Tip-off is at 6pm.
