The Tigers kept their playoff hopes alive with a win over Acadia on Wednesday.
The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Acadia Axemen 84-75 on Wednesday.
In the first quarter, Dalhousie established an early lead with significant contributions from Gabe Damey, who scored twice on jumpers, and Caleb Stewart, who added several points from free throws. Midway through the quarter, Dalhousie gained momentum with Lydell Husbands-Browne and Jayden Parker both scoring in the paint, extending their advantage to the largest lead of six points at 1:13. Despite fouls and turnovers, Dalhousie maintained their edge, closing the quarter with a 20-17 lead over the Axemen.
Dalhousie's offense displayed balanced scoring in the second quarter, with Caleb Stewart contributing significantly by hitting two crucial 3-pointers late in the half. Despite a series of fouls and missed opportunities, Drake Kucharik added valuable points through a free throw, and Jayden Parker's jumper at the end helped maintain a slight lead. The teams were tied 36-36 after a 3-pointer by Nathaniel Titus, but the Axemen managed to close the gap, leaving the half tied at 19 points each.
The third quarter featured a strong performance from the Tigers, who outscored the Axemen 23-11. Dalhousie established their largest lead of 17 points early at 9:45, with a solid contribution from Austin Thomson who scored multiple layups. Gabe Damey connected on a 3-pointer at 6:12, contributing to a scoring run that saw Dalhousie maintain momentum. Despite a series of fouls, Dalhousie held firm, with Riley Stewart adding two free throws to the tally. A late-game effort saw Jayden Parker and Lydell Husbands-Browne combine for additional points, ensuring Dalhousie concluded the half with a consistent scoring pace, ultimately securing an 84-75 victory over the Axemen.
