Tigers rebound to beat Seahawks 102-72

Following a defeat on Saturday night, the Dalhousie Tigers (4-2) came out hungry and were able to stifle the Memorial Sea-Hawks (3-3) offence, winning 102-72.

There was an obvious dedication to the defensive side of the ball for Tigers as soon as the opening tip-off, and they carried that intensity throughout the game. Shamar Burrows (Nassau, Bahamas) was strong on the boards in the first half, snagging three rebounds and added two steals. The Tigers were able to limit the Sea-Hawks high-powered offence to just 24 points in the opening half, heading into halftime with a 42-24 lead.

The Sea-Hawks would try their best to push back and cut into the Tigers lead but they couldn't make up any substantial ground, and after three quarters the Tigers held a 65-49 lead. In the final frame the Tigers would keep tacking onto their lead, finishing the final frame with an impressive 37 points distancing themselves from the host Sea-Hawks.

Malcolm Christie was unstoppable the entire afternoon, posting a game high 29 points. He went five-for-five from the floor and five-for-five beyond the arc, posting 15 of his points in the fourth quarter alone. Burrows (Nassau, Bahamas) went on to complete the double-double,  finishing the game with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and a game-high 4 steals. Samuel Wade (Wallace, NS) and Benjamin Gory (Mont de Marsan, France) both contributed 13 points to the Tigers cause, helping sustain their offence throughout the game.

For the Sea-Hawks, Emmanuel Ring (St. John's, NL) was once again the catalyst on the offensive end, scoring a team-high 28 points on 10/23 shooting from the field and 8/8 from the free throw line. Flynn Boardman-Raffet (London, England) did a variety of things well for the home team, finishing with a stat line of 13 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nicholas Tuff (St. John's, NL) ended the game with 13 points to his name, including 6 rebounds.

The Seahawks hit the road next, travelling to STFX to battle the X-Men on Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers return to the home court for one game next weekend. They host the Acadia Axemen at 8pm on Friday.
