Parker commits to Tigers for 2022-23 season

Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announce the commitment of Jayden Parker for the 2022-23 season.

A 6’5 forward, Parker is currently a member of the George Harris Preparatory Academy and has been with the team since 2021.

The Milton, Ontario native played junior basketball at Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School where he led the team to a Halton Catholic Athletic Association championship. He was also a key contributor in their wins in the Holy Trinity and Father Kennedy Memorial All Catholic tournaments. In grade 10 he was awarded junior athlete of the year, along with most promising athlete in grade nine.

In addition to his high school career, Parker has played with the Halton Basketball Club since 2018, participating in the Nike Super16 Showcase, Adidas Invitational AAU Tournament, and were the summer 2021 North Pole Hoops League champions.

“I feel blessed for this opportunity,” says Parker. “I think playing for the Tigers will be a crazy experience and not to mention Dal is a great start to my academic pathway into engineering. Coach Plato and the team are a great group. I can’t wait to be a part of the family.”

Parker is a six-time honor roll member and will be studying chemical engineering at Dalhousie.

“Jayden is a tremendous athlete who will bring versatility and athleticism to the program,” says Plato. “I have been recruiting Jayden for the past several years and I have come to know him as a dedicated student-athlete whose talent and skill will allow him to play multiple positions. Jayden is adept at scoring from the perimeter as well as taking it to the rim and is committed to playing great defense. We are indeed fortunate to have a student-athlete of Jayden's caliber as a Tiger.”

Earlier this month the Tigers won their third consecutive AUS championship against UPEI and finished fifth at the U SPORTS national championship.
