Ochu scores 16 in OT loss to Huskies

(Halifax, NS) - Tuesday night in AUS men's basketball, the Saint Mary's Huskies team remain undefeated after topping the Dalhousie Tigers 69-63 at the Homburg Centre.  

The Tigers lead an impressive first quarter 19-9. Dalhousie dropped the last two points at the buzzer with a made layup by Jordan Wilson (Nassau, Bahamas). The Huskies had the attempts but could not drop the ball enough to keep up with the Tigers. 

In the second quarter, Saint Mary's made outstanding handles down the court that lead to layups. With three minutes left before the half, the Huskies closed the gap by three points. Despite putting up 17 points in the second quarter, the Huskies were still unable to break pass the Tiger lead. Tiger's player Kevin Duong (Montreal, PC) dropped a layup at the buzzer to end the first half with the Tigers leading 29-26 

Dalhousie kept their lead until six minutes left in the third quarter, when SMU gained a one-point lead and the shots didn't stop. The Huskies crowd was on their feet chanting as their team went ended the third quarter with a 13-point 50-37 lead. 

The Huskies were looking to continue their undefeated season against the visiting Tigers.  

In the final quarter, SMU lead the way keeping an eight-point gap, until the last 50 seconds of the game. The Tigers used all their force and made an impressive comeback. The Dalhousie fans were hopeful for a win when Xavier Ochu (Milton, Ont.) made a three-point shot to come close to the Huskies.  

Ochu followed it with a missed three-point shot and the game went back to Saint Mary's.   

Johneil Johnson (LAKE ECHO NS) scored the final layup the Huskies took the game 69-63.  

SMU continuetheir undefeated 10-0 season, the Tiger fall to 6-5.  

Subway player of game was Nico Brauner (WIESBADEN GERMANY) with 14 points and two assists.  

Next up, the Huskies host UNB on Saturday night.
