Tigers take third at Shoveller Tournament

Jarred Reid had a game-high 25 points in the Dalhousie Tigers 76-71 win over the StFX X-Men in the consolation final of the Rod and Joan Memorial Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Tigers got out to an early lead in the first quarter and carried a six-point lead into half time. The X-Men came to life in the second half of the game, but the Tigers secured the win late in the fourth, keeping StFX off the scoreboard.

Tournament all-star Kashrell Lawrence had 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals in the game and Ritchie Kanza Mata chipped in 10 points and four assists.

Cameron Walker was hot for the X-Men with 20 points and seven rebounds, while tournament all-star Kevin Bercy had 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Tigers return to action in 2017 when they head to UPEI Saturday, January 7, while StFX will play host to the Acadia Axemen Friday, January 6.
