Jarred Reid and Kashrell Lawrence each had 18 points in the Tigers 85-67 victory over the Mount Royal Cougars in the final game of day one of the 25th annual Rod and Joan Shoveller Memorial Basketball Tournament at Dalplex.

The Tigers were a bit shaky to start the first quarter, but went on a 13-0 point run in the last three-minutes of the quarter to take a 23-13 lead into the second. They would continue to build on that momentum and build their lead to an eventual 18-point victory.

Sven Stammberger chipped in 15 points and four rebounds in the effort, while Lawrence had 7 rebounds.

Derek Wolf had a game-high 22 points for Mount Royal, while Josh Ross had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

With the win, the Tigers will face cross town-rival Saint Mary's in the second semifinal at 8pm on Friday night. Mount Royal will take on Queen's in the consolation round at 3pm in the afternoon.
