(Halifax, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers pulled off an incredible comeback on Saturday night against the UNB Varsity Reds at the Dalplex with an 84-82 victory. Trailing by as many as 20 points the Tigers took back the lead in the final minutes of the game in one of the better performance we will see all season.

Jesse Kendall started the game red-hot hitting his first three shots from behind the arc helping the Varsity Reds to an early 11-7 lead. Sven Stammberger rivaled the performance of Kendall hurting the Varsity Reds in multiple ways.

Adam Karmali tied the game up at 19-19 on a nice drive but UNB went on a mini run to close the quarter out at 24-20.

The Tigers fell asleep to start the 2nd quarter allowing UNB to go on a 16-0 run to start the frame. Cedric Sango finally stopped the bleeding scoring the Tigers first points of the frame with 4:24 left.

Stammberger single handedly brought the Tigers back into the game with a huge and-one dunk followed by a three ball. The momentum created by Stammberger only left the Tigers down 44-36 at the half.

The two sides went back in forth in the third quarter, with the Tigers unable to cut the lead any further. Stammberger continued to be the best player on the court dropping 8 points in the frame.

The fourth quarter maybe one of the best we see all season. The Tigers some how clawed their way back into striking distance off the back of Stammbergers 16 fourth quarter points.

Cedric Sango gave the Tigers their first lead since the first quarter with 2:30 to play. Stammberger continued to come up big seconds later making it 80-77 with a nice floater in traffic.

The Varsity Reds had the ball with 10 seconds remaing down by three but were unable to hit a late shot.

Some how the Dalhousie Tigers pulled off the improbable comeback win 84-82.

Stammberger had a monster performance dropping 40 points while chipping in 6 rebounds. Jesse Kendell led the Varsity Reds with 22 points.

The Tigers sweep the weekend series and start the season 2-0. They will host the Memorial Sea-Hawks in another two games series next weekend at the Dalplex. The UNB Varsity Reds will host their home opener next Saturday against the Cape Breton Capers.
