In a possible preview of an AUS quarter-final matchup, the Cape Breton Capers came away with a 80-74 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Friday night at the Dalplex. The Capers winning streak now stands at four games, while the Tigers have now lost four of their last five games. The Capers are now in fourth place in the AUS, while the Tigers sit just two points back in fifth place.

The Tigers held a 21-13 advantage after the first quarter, as Jarred Reid put up an impresive 11 points on 4-6 shooting. He also went a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc as the Tigers took control early.

In the second quarter, the Capers tried to cut into the Tigers lead, but the Tigers held their eight point advantage going into halftime. 

The Capers came out flying in the third quarter, desperate to get back into the game. Kayon Mayers' jumper with 4:37 left tied the game at 49, and Seth Amoah scored back-to-back buckets to give the Capers a slim 53-49 lead. After Adam Karmali's freethrows helped the Tigers regain the lead late in the third quarter, Meschak Lufile made a jumper with just over a minute left to tie the game at 55 as the two teams headed into the fourth quarter.

The Capers momentum continued in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Tigers 25-19 en route to an 80-74 victory. 

Seth Amoah led the Capers with a team-high 19 points on 8-9 shooting from the field, while Akeem Isaac-Phillip added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists. Arild Geugies came up big off the pine or the Capers with 16 points on 8-9 shooting. 

Jarred Reid was hot from deep as he led the Tigers with 25 points on 5-7 shooting from beyond the arc, while Ritchie Kanza Mata had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kashrell Lawrence chipped in 17 points to go along with five rebounds.

The teams are now set to face off tomorrow in a critical match-up to end the season. Tip off is set for 4:00pm at the Dalplex.
