Tigers defeat Sea-Hawks 69-66 in home opener

The Dalhousie Tigers upset the Memorial Sea-Hawks 69-66 in front of a packed house at the Field House in AUS men's basketball on Saturday.

After an even first quarter, the Tigers pulled ahead to finish the second 39-25 over the Sea-Hawks. Memorial came back to outscore their opponent in the third and fourth, bringing it within three points, but could not seal the deal before the clock ran out.

Kashrell Lawrence (Brampton, O.N.) led the Tigers with 22 points and eight rebounds in the win. Jarred Reid (Aurora, O.N.) and Ritchie Kanza-Mata (Toronto, O.N.) chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Memorial's Caleb Gould (Aurora, O.N.) had a team-high 24 points and eight rebounds. Jacob Ranton (Waterloo, O.N.) added another 19 points for the Sea-Hawks.

Kanza Mata was the AUS Subway player of the game for the winners while Gould earned the honours for Memorial.
