(Halifax, NS) On Friday night at the Dalplex the UNB Varsity Reds claimed the men’s volleyball AUS championship, defeating the Dalhousie Tigers 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-23, 27-25). Cody Timmons (UNB) and Jonathan MacDonald (DAL) were named Subway players of the game for their respective sides while Elvind Andersen (UNB) was named championship series MVP.
The UNB Varsity Reds took game one of the 2016 Subway AUS Men’s Volleyball Championship series by a score of 3-0 over the host Dalhousie Tigers. They now lead the best 2-of-3 series 1-0.
(Halifax, NS) On Sunday afternoon at the Dalplex the Dalhousie Tigers beat the Memorial Sea-Hawks 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-17) in a four-point match. The two teams were scheduled to faceoff tomorrow evening as well but the game was cancelled due to poor weather creating a four-point game on Sunday.
After Dalhousie won the first two sets of the game, UNB put up a strong fight by winning the third and fourth before the Tigers finished the last set to win the game.
The Tigers competed in the second Interlock of the season at Sherbrooke this weekend and finished with 3-1 win over Laval, ad 3-1 loss against Montreal, and 3-2 win over Sherbrooke.
Dalhousie managed to stay in the game by winning the third set, and after an incredibly close fourth set with each team matching each other point for point, Sherbrooke managed to come out with the win for the game.
