Join the Tigers

The women’s field hockey team plays in the Maritime Field Hockey League and competes in numerous tournaments during the season against teams from Acadia, Saint Mary's, St. Francis Xavier, University of PEI, and University of New Brunswick.

The Dalhousie Field Hockey team is a competitive club that promotes student-athlete development, fitness, and respect in sport. We are among the most competitive teams in the 8-team Atlantic University Field Hockey League, and have won the championship 6 times since 2010.

The team is led by coaching staff focused on player development, team dynamics, physical fitness, and sport psychology. Our core coaching staff is made up of Dalhousie alumni who continue to contribute to the provincial development of the sport.

Team Commitment

The season runs from the beginning of September until the end of October, and consists of two weekend tournaments (and potentially an additional day tournament) to determine league placement. A final weekend tournament is played for the Atlantic University Field Hockey title. All tournaments are held within the Maritime provinces with rotating hosting duties between the universities.

During the season, our practice nights are Monday (dry-land training; times TBD), Tuesday, Wednesday (skill & drills on the turf; 7 - 9 pm) & Thursday (meeting and/or dry-land training; times TBD).

Interested in Joining?

Anyone with an interest in field hockey is encouraged to try out for the team. Tryouts are typically held during the first week of September, and a team of approximately 20 athletes is selected. Our season is short and sweet, so we expect a high level of engagement and commitment from all of our athletes.

Email fieldhoc@dal.ca if you have any questions about the team or are interested in joining.

All levels of players are encouraged to come out and be part of the team.
