CIS TOP TEN TUESDAY #6

CIS TOP TEN TUESDAY #6

No changes at the top in soccer, rugby, cross country

Oct. 6, 2015

OTTAWA (CIS) – There are no changes at the top in this week’s CIS national rankings in soccer, rugby and cross country.

In women’s soccer, the reigning CIS champion Laval Rouge et Or (6-0-2) remained undefeated on the season thanks to a 4-2 win over previously unbeaten and No. 8-ranked Sherbrooke (6-1-1) last Friday and a 1-1 draw against UQAM on Sunday.

In men’s soccer, the UQAM Citadins (6-0-1) went 2-0 in their first-ever weekend as the top team in the country as they blanked Concordia 2-0 and outscored Laval 4-1.

In women’s rugby, the Ottawa Gee-Gees (6-0), who also merited No. 1 status for the first time in program history last Tuesday, travelled to Montreal on Saturday and took down the previously undefeated Carabins 33-7.

In cross country, the Guelph Gryphons, who have swept the CIS team titles each of the past nine seasons, top the women and men’s rankings for the fourth straight week.

The Rouge et Or, Citadins, Gee-Gees and Gryphons all enjoy a well-deserved break on Thanksgiving weekend.

NOTE: The first CIS rankings of 2015-16 in hockey and volleyball will be released next Tuesday... The first national rankings of the season in basketball will follow on Nov. 3.
