Tigers add Bydal for 2024-25

Dalhousie Tigers women’s soccer head coach Cindy Tye is pleased to announce the commitment of Ava Bydal for the 2024-25 season.

Hailing from Barrie, Ontario, Bydal will play for the Simcoe County Rovers Reserve team in League1 Ontario this summer. In 2022 the winger played for Barrie Football Club’s U17 team in the Ontario Soccer iModel League, scoring the game winning goal in the final of the league championship.

“I am very excited to be a student-athlete at Dalhousie and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to not only pursue my passion for soccer, but to be part of a team culture that values family and hard work,” says Bydal. “I know that playing for the Tigers will help me develop as a player and I am excited to be surrounded by such a talented group of athletes.”

Multi-year member of the honour roll at St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School, Bydal will be studying science at Dalhousie.

“An attacker, Ava is known for her speed, ability to create scoring opportunities for others, and being in the right place at the right time,” says Tye. “When her team is not in possession, she has also been used as a full back because of her defensive tenacity. Ava is an honour roll student and a leader on her team. We are excited to welcome Ava to the Tigers!”

The Tigers open their 2024-25 season at home versus Moncton on August 31.
