After a 5-4-3 finish to the season, the Dalhousie University Tigers women’s soccer team clinched a playoff berth as the fourth seed. The Tigers now face the fifth-seeded Memorial University of Newfoundland Sea-Hawks on Thursday in the AUS quarter-final.

Losing in the AUS final against the Cape Breton University Capers in Wolfville last year, the Tigers look to make it back there with a different ending.

“Experience matters when you get into these moments,” says Tigers head coach Cindy Tye. “Hopefully, our seniors will help our young players rise to the challenge.”

It will be a chance for revenge for the Sea-Hawks, who got knocked out of last year’s championship heartbreakingly by the Tigers in a 1-0 semi-final loss. The Tigers scored an 80th minute goal to advance to the final.

“We're well known to each other,” says Tye. “At this point, both teams will be ready to go and I think it'll be a great match. We've always had good games with Memorial.”

The Tigers face Memorial forward Zoe Rowe, who finished fourth in the AUS in goals, scoring 9 goals in 10 games.

Memorial finished the season losing four straight games while the Tigers are undefeated in their last five.

The Tigers play on Thursday in Sydney, Nova Scotia, at 11am at the AUS Championship hosted by the Cape Breton University Capers.
