Quito, Ecuador native Karla Yepez joins the women's basketball coaching staff for her first season.

A five-year member of the UPEI women's basketball team, Yepez helped lead the Panthers to an AUS championship title and a bronze medal finish at the national championships during the 2019-20 season. An Academic All-Canadian and AUS second team all-star, she was a member of the 2016 AUS All-Rookie Team. After completing a Bachelor of Business Administration, Yepez joined the UPEI coaching staff for a season while completing her Train to Compete NCCP level 3 coaching courses.

Before landing on PEI, Yepez represented Ecuador as a member of the 2011 U15 and 2013 U17 junior national teams and as a member of their senior teams in 2016 and 2018.
