Hominick commits to Tigers for 2024-25

Dalhousie Tigers track and field head coach Rich Lehman is pleased to announce the commitment of Caleb Hominick for the 2024-25 season.

Hailing from Valley, Nova Scotia, Hominick competes for the Truro Lions Track and Field Club and the Cobequid Educational Centre. A 6’3 thrower, Hominick won a bronze medal in the shot put and a silver medal in discus at the 2022 School Sport Nova Scotia provincial championship, helping his team to provincial team titles.

This past February, Hominick won a silver medal in shotput and a gold medal in weight throw at the 2024 Atlantic Indoor Championship. He went on to win a gold medal at the Athletics Canada Indoor National Championship in March, setting a new personal best of 18.65m.

Last summer he won the hammer throw at the Athletics Nova Scotia Provincial and Club Championships and went on to represent Nova Scotia at the 2023 Legion Track and Field Championships, bringing home a silver medal.

“I am excited to take my skills to the next level and meet new athletes in a new tier of track and field,” says Hominick.

Hominick will be studying engineering at Dalhousie.

“Caleb will be a huge addition to our program,” says assistant coach Kirk Jessome. “Only being in the sport for one year and accomplishing what he has, the ceiling of potential almost doesn’t exist.”

The Tigers successfully defended their AUS title this past February for the eighth-straight time.
