The Dalhousie Tigers fell to the Montreal Carabins 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-25) in RSEQ action Friday night.

The 0-2 Tigers struggled early getting into a 3-10 hole to Montreal. The Carabins had all the answers for the Tigers in the first set with the Tigers attempting over 20 attacks, but only able to covert eight of them into kills. Several late errors by the Carabins gave the Tigers a glimmer of hope, but they ultimately fell 17-25 to Montreal.

The Tigers started rolling early in the second set led by some great serving by Sartaj Sidhu (Calgary, AB) and kills from Ted Graveson (Burnaby, BC) and Michael Donovan (London, ON). The Tigers and Carabins were neck-in-neck all second set and tied 22-22 when coach Dan Ota took a time out after a 5-point Montreal run. Although Lucas Condon-Oldreive (Halifax, NS) found the floor for the first point out of the timeout, the Tigers were not able to hold on and Montreal won the second set 25-23.

Montreal and Dalhousie started the third set trading errors and points before Donovan, Condon-Oldreive and Kamrin Loitz (Leduc County, AB) took over and won the set 25-18 for the Tigers.

However, that's as far as the Tigers would get, as Montreal's attack overwhelmed them in the fourth set. The Carabins took the final set 25-15.

The teams are back in action on Saturday, for game two of the series in Montreal. The first serve flies at 3pm AT.
