Chappell Leads Tigers to 2nd Place Finish

Antigonish, NS – The Tigers women's cross country team came out in second place at the StFX Invitational interlock meet on Saturday afternoon.

The interlock meet attracted 95 intercollegiate runners from 12 AUS and RSEQ schools. Laval took the team title with 35 points, while Dalhousie was second at 41, followed by Sherbrooke (101) and StFX (123).

McGill's Jullien Flynn was the race winner, completing the 6k course in a time of 21:40.60. Sarah Bergeron Larouche from UQTR was second at 21:57.61, followed by Dalhousie's Ellen Chappell at 22:00.48. Laval had runners place fourth through sixth.

The Tigers had 6 runners in the top 20 including Brittany MacArthur (9), Maddy Crowell (10) Emily Clarke (12), Emily Ferguson (16), and Kayte Kowal (17).  

Also competing for the Tigers were Jenna MacDonald (28), Hannah Ascough (37), Sara Laush (42), and Emma Gilliam (46).

The Tigers have wrapped up regular season competition and will have a weekend off before competing at the Subway AUS championship on October 25th in Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, hosted by Saint Mary's University.
