Tigers triumph for second consecutive weekend

HALIFAX, NS Led by Colleen Wilson, the Tigers women's cross country team has once again come out on top at their second race of the season.

The 34th annual Université de Moncton Cross Country Classic kicked off this past Saturday in the beautiful city of Moncton, NB. Both of Dalhousie's cross country teams were in attendance to compete as the men took an 8 km track and the women tested their skills on a 6 km track.

Colleen Wilson finished the 6 km women's race with a time of 22:43.70 and received a gold medal for the Tigers. Two of her Dalhousie teammates, Sarah Myatt and Jenna Macdonald, finished in third and fourth place with times of 22:30.60 and 22:39.30 respectively.

With an overall score of 20 points, Dalhousie University was crowned the first seed at the meet. St. Francis Xavier came second with a score of 40 points and Acadia followed behind them with a score of 92 points.

The men also had an impressive overall rank at the meet, mirroring their result from last weekend at the Acadia Invitational by receiving a silver medal with a score of 38 points. The St. Francis Xavier X-Men came first with 23 points and the Moncton Aigles Bleus third with 73 points.

St. FX runners Scott Donald (26:08.30), Alex Cyr (26:10.10) and Alex Neuffer (26:16.70) all finished in the top three positions at the meet.

Will Russell was the first Tiger to finish the race with a fifth place finishing time of 26:28.30. Shortly after Russell crossed the finish line, Tigers teammate Angus Macintosh received a seventh place finish with a time of 27:18.00.

The Tigers next track meet is at home during the Dal/SMU Invitational held at Point Pleasant Park.
