Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball head coach Patrick Murray is pleased to announce the commitment of Madelyn MacLaughlin for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Valley, Nova Scotia, this 5’11 setter plays for Cougars Volleyball Club, where she helped lead her team to a Nova Scotia Provincial Championship title in 2024. From 2022 to 2025, MacLaughlin was a key member of Team Nova Scotia, winning gold at the 2023 Elite of the East Championship and competing at the 2024 Canada Cup. She was also selected for the 2024-25 Team Nova Scotia Canada Games training group and the Nova Scotia Provincial Excellence Program from 2023 to 2025. At the high school level, MacLaughlin played for the Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) girls volleyball team from 2022 to 2024, where she helped secure two Division 1 Provincial Championships.
MacLaughlin has received many athletic awards throughout her volleyball career including MVP of the 2024 Dalhousie High School Invitational Tournament, Team Nova Scotia Provincial All-Star in 2023, CEC Rookie of the Year in 2023, and MVP of the 2024 High School Tip-Off Tournament.
“I am excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Dalhousie,” says MacLaughlin. “After visiting the campus, I was immediately welcomed by the team and coaches. The environment and culture surrounding the Tigers felt like the perfect fit. I am looking forward to being part of such a dedicated and supportive team, growing with them and achieving mutual goals. I can’t wait to start my journey as a Tiger!”
A consistent honour roll student, MacLaughlin will be studying medical science at Dalhousie.
"Over the last year I have had the privilege of watching Madelyn establish herself as one of the top setters in Atlantic Canada,” says Murray. “When she visited our campus, it was evident that she was a natural fit for our culture and offensive system. We were ecstatic that Madelyn agreed that being a Tiger was the best fit for her as well!"
The Tigers finished their 2024-25 AUS regular season in first place with a record of 16-4.
