Leblanc leads Moncton past Memorial 3-2, Aigles Bleues move onto semifinals

The University of Moncton Aigles Bleues defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks 3-2, to take the first quarter-final match of the 2014 Subway AUS women's volleyball championship.

February 14, 2014 (HALIFAX, N.S.) – The University of Moncton Aigles Bleues defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks Friday night by a score of  3-2 in the first quarter-final match of the 2014 Subway AUS women's volleyball championship at the Dalplex. Set scores were (27-25, 26-28, 16-25, 25-21, 15-11).

With the win, the Aigles Bleues move on to the first semifinal game, Saturday February 15, at 4:30pm, to take on the league winning Dalhousie Tigers.

Subway Player of the Game Natasha Leblanc led Moncton with ten kills and 13.0 points in the victory, while Joline Richard and Rachelle Lemoine each added seven kills of their own.

Samantha March had 16 kills in the loss for the Aigles Bleues, and Angela Peddle and Jill Snow combined for 26 kills and 32.0 points.

The winner of the second quarter-final game will take on the second place Saint Mary's Huskies tomorrow at 7:00pm following the first semifinal game. The winners of tomorrow's semifinal games will play each other in the championship on Sunday, February 16, to determine the AUS women's volleyball champions.
