Dalhousie Invitational Swim Meet First Session

The Tigers kick off the 2014 Dalhousie Invitational meet with a bang. The Tigers dominated the first event, 200 meter freestyle with three Tiger swimmers in the top three. Women swimmers, Molly Wedge and Meagan Bernier tie for first with a time of 2:03.70, with teammate Paige Robillard placing behind them in third. The men took their turn at the 200 meter free style and once again the Tigers did not disappoint. Memorial swimmer, Gavin Dyke, placed first in the heat with a time of 1:52.64, with Tigers swimmers; Joe Ur and Christ Reith placing close behind him.

UNB swimmer, Amanda Greene fought until the very last tenth of a second in the 50 meter backstroke event. Greene took first place with a time of 31.40, only 0.02 seconds quicker than Mt Allison swimmer, Marya Peters. Dal Tiger, Megan Bernier made her second top three appearance of the day finishing third. Acadia men's swimmer, Hayden Adams, dominated the fourth event, 50 meter backstroke, with a time of 27.27, putting him in first place above Memorial's Ryan George and Dalhousie's Alexander Horwood.

Next was the 200 meter breaststroke. Tiger's swimmer, Keishia Mills, looked flawless as she conquered her heat with a time of 2:38.47. UNB swimmer, Lauren Adam, placed second with Dalhousie swimmer, Paige Crowell finishing third. In the men's 200 meter breaststroke, Acadia swimmer, Luc Boudreau, ruled the event with a time of 2:18.62, leaving Tiger's swimmer Tony Liew and UNB swimmer, Chris Garcelon to place second and third.

Tigers dominated once again in event seven, women's 100 meter butterfly. Dalhousie's Rachel Shin placed first, with teammate Ainsley Fraser finishing second and UNB swimmer, Jessica Leblana taking third. Dalhousie's David Sharp, made his first place finish look effortless with a time of 56.18. UNB and Acadia joined Dal in the top three once again with UNB's Eyad Albassiouny finishing second and Acadia swimmer, Hayden Adams finishing third.

The Tiger's crowd roared in the 400 meter individual medley as women's swimmer, Alison Grant finished first with a time of 5:04.18, finishing six seconds earlier than second place swimmer, UNB's Kaitlyn Young and 23 seconds quicker than third place swimmer, UNB''s Cassey Mooney. In the same event, Sea-Hawk, Gavin Dyke, battled until the end to gain first with a time of 4:41.21. Dalhousie's, James Profit and Acadia's, Collin Reynolds finished second and third.

To finish off the first session of the meet the Tigers dominated the relays with a women's time of 2:01.1 and a men's time of 1:46.64. This leaves the Tigers ranked first in men's and women's. The women have 107 points, followed by UNB with 61 points and Mount Allison with 34 points. The Tigers men's team finishes first with 86 points, followed by Acadia with 52 points and Memorial with 51 points.
