The Acadia Axewomen continued their impressive start to the AUS women's soccer season with a 6-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers at Wickwire field on Sunday afternoon. In Acadia's opening two games they have now outscored opponents by a margin of 12-1.

The Tigers came out strong controlling the ball against the Axewomen after dropping their home opener to the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday. Dalhousie striker, Shea Jeffery-Novak, had the first scoring chance of the game ringing a header off the crossbar in the 7' minute. Shortly after, Jeffery Novak was able to capitalize on her next opportunity scoring her second of the year in the 21' minute giving the Tigers the early lead.

The advantage was short lived as Kinsella Noseworthy Smith rushed into the box in the 31' minute and quickly cut back, releasing a shot to the top left corner. The 1-1 tie would hold to the end of the first 45 minutes.

The second half was all Axewomen who managed to score five goals in the frame. Just thirty seconds into the half, Meghan Earle broke free on net and was able to chip the ball over the charging Dalhousie keeper, Tilda Hadley, to find the back of the net. Three minutes later Earle was back to work bringing the ball deep into the Tigers box and sending a short pass over to Noseworthy Smith who had an open net for her second of the game, stretching the lead to 3-1 Axewomen.

Noseworthy Smith would complete the hat trick in the 63' minute when she lobbed a high bouncing shot towards the net that Hadley could not control. Jenna Boudreau and Gemma Leblanc both netted goals in the final minutes propelling Acadia to a 6-1 victory.

The Tigers struggled to mount an offensive attack in the second half after having multiple scoring chances in the first. Acadia keeper, Emma Connell came up with big stops when Acadia needed it most, recording 4 saves in the game.

Dalhousie's (0-2-0) next action will come on Saturday afternoon as they travel to play the UNB Varsity Reds (0-0-2).

The Acadia Axewomen (2-0-0) will look to stay undefeated when they travel to the Mount Allison Mounties (1-0-1) on Friday night.
