Dalhousie edges StFX 2-0, move atop AUS standings

In a hard fought game that saw a total of 25 fouls and 6 yellow cards, the Dalhousie Tigers held off the StFX X-Men and won 2-0 tonight at Wickwire Field in men's soccer action.

Bezick Evraire put the crowd on their feet when he curled a ball past X-Men keeper Sam Hutchison. The Tigers would hold on to the 1-0 lead going into the half.

The start of the second half saw more gritty, hardnosed play as both teams battled to gain possession.

Tigers co-captain Nathan Rogers took advantage of a beautiful pass and headed in a goal in the 65th minute to give Dalhousie a 2-0 lead.

The X-Men continued to press in the final minutes of the game, but they could not seem to crack the Tigers defense, led by Subway Player of the Game Jordan Mannix.

This was a pivotal game for both teams as they entered tied with 2-1-1 records. The win moves the Tigers into first place in the AUS with 10 points. The loss slides StFX down to fifth place.

The X-Men are back in action when they host the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday at 3:15pm.

The Tigers will head to Wolfville as they take on the Acadia Axemen on Saturday at 3:15pm.
