Tigers add Moreau for 2022-23 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s hockey head coach Troy Ryan is pleased to announce the commitment of Sierra Moreau for the 2022-23 season.

The captain of the Barrie Jr. Sharks, Moreau led them to their first Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) playoff appearance. A blue-liner, she netted four goals and 15 assists during the regular season and tournament play.

A two-time female junior athlete of the year at St. Theresa’s Catholic High School in Midland, Ontario, Moreau has also earned several team MVP awards in high school basketball, badminton and track and field. She graduated in 2021 as the top female student-athlete with the highest academic average and most athletic at St. Theresa’s.

“The first feeling that comes to mind undoubtedly is excitement,” says Moreau. “To have the opportunity to attend and play for Dalhousie is a dream come true for sure. Coming from a small town in Ontario, I am super eager to be able to explore the east coast and all that it has to offer. I cannot wait to meet all the girls, step onto the ice with my new teammates and have a successful season. I am excited for the opportunity to learn from Coach Ryan and work towards bringing a championship to Dalhousie.”

Moreau has been accepted into the management program at Dalhousie.

“We are excited to welcome Sierra to Dalhousie and our hockey program,” says Ryan. “Sierra is a strong, reliable defence and will bring good leadership qualities to our program. She is an excellent student, and even better person that will be a great fit in our program.”

The Tigers are eager to improve on their AUS quarter-final exit in 2021-22, with head coach Troy Ryan back behind the bench.
