Hood commits to Tigers for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s hockey head coach Troy Ryan is pleased to announce the commitment of Allison Hood for the 2021-22 season.

A member of the Northern Subway Selects U18 AAA team of the Maritime Major Female Hockey League (MMFHL), Hood contributed 11 points in her team’s 23-1 2019-20 regular season record. She also suited up for Team Nova Scotia U18’s in the 2019 edition of the Atlantic Challenge Cup.

Before joining the Northern Subway Selects, the defencewoman played for Newbridge Academy’s U16 Prep team, netting 14 points in the 2018-19 season.

“I am very excited and appreciative to be able to attend Dalhousie University next fall and to join the women’s hockey program,” says Hood. “Attending Dalhousie will give me the opportunity to pursue my academic and athletic goals at a school that strives for both academic and athletic excellence.”

A native of Stellarton, N.S., Hood will be studying kinesiology while at Dalhousie.

“We are very excited to welcome Allie to Dalhousie University and our women’s hockey program,” says Ryan. “We are confident that she is the type of person and athlete we want to surround ourselves with. She is a great addition academically, athletically, and will be actively involved within our community.”

The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020-21 season for the women’s hockey team.
