(Halifax, N.S) – Two first period goals helped power the Dalhousie Tigers to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday night at the Halifax Forum.

Forward Becca Chilver's (Bradford, ON) goal at 4:35 of the first frame stood as the game winner. Forward Jesse Rietveld (Pelham, ON) would add an insurance marker at 10:15 of the opening period.

The Mounties would respond just seconds later, courtesy of forward Kelly Matarazzo (Winnipeg, MB), however it wasn't enough, as goaltender Mati Barrett (Stittsville, ON) stopped 26 of the 27 shots she faced on the evening.

Forward Lisa Maclean (Inverness, NS) would put the game on ice with an empty net goal in the final minute of play, as the Tigers advanced to 2-6-1 on the season, while the Mounties fell to 3-7-0.

Dalhousie's next contest goes at 3 p.m. tomorrow as they host Moncton, while Mount Allison will host St. Thomas next Sunday.
