Iyekekpolor commits to the Tigers for 2022-23

Dalhousie Tigers women’s basketball head coach Tanya McKay is pleased to announce the commitment of Arene Iyekekpolor for the 2022-23 season.

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Iyekekpolor is a member of Edge School’s basketball team that competes in The Grind Session. A member of Team Alberta’s 2019 15U Girl’s National Championship team she and her teammates placed fifth at the tournament.

The 6’0 guard was recently selected as one of the top 50 high school players by Canletes and was named an all-star in their She Got Now All-Canadian game.

In the classroom, Iyekekpolor has earned several academic awards including Academic Excellence with Distinction for maintaining grades above 90% in every class. She will be working towards a Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie.

“I am excited to be able to begin my post-secondary career as a Tiger,” says Iyekekpolor. “I’m really looking forward to moving to campus and connecting with my new teammates and coaches. I am so grateful for this opportunity!”

“Arene is a great addition to our women's basketball program here Dalhousie,” says McKay. “She is an exceptional athlete who thrives on the basketball court and in the classroom. She is motivated to be a top player at the U SPORTS level, and we are excited to see how much she pushes the envelope to make her mark in a Tigers uniform.”
