Ward commits to Tigers for 2020-21 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s basketball head coach Anna Stammberger is pleased to announce the commitment of Emma Ward for the 2020-21 season.

Ward, a native of Moncton, N.B., is a multi-year member of the Bernice MacNaughton High School varsity girl’s basketball team. She earned the school’s Most Promising Female Athlete in 2018 and a New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletics Association (NBIAA) all-star in 2019 and in 2020. The point guard was also named to the Basketball New Brunswick U17 girl’s team for the 2018-19 season.

“I am really excited for the opportunity to join the Tigers and continue to play the sport I love,” says Ward. "I think Dalhousie will be an awesome experience.”

Ward will be studying medical sciences while attending Dalhousie.

“Emma is a true point guard; a strong defender who distributes the ball well and plays with speed and physicality at both ends of the court,” says Stammberger. “She’ll contribute to the Tigers by making our backcourt deeper and stronger. We welcome Emma to Dal and look forward to working with her.”

The Tigers fell short of the playoffs this year, ending the regular season with a 2-18 record.
