McSwiggan to Suit Up For the Tigers

(Halifax, N.S.) Dalhousie women’s basketball head coach Anna Stammberger is pleased to announce the commitment of Bridget McSwiggan to the 2018-19 lineup.

A Barrhaven, Ontario native, McSwiggan played for St. Mother Teresa high school girls basketball team the last three years and most recently helped them reach the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) playoffs this season.

McSwiggan also played two seasons with the Nepean Blue Devils, helping them to top 10 status in the province before joining the Ottawa Elite basketball program. The 6’1 post has received a number player of the game awards so far this season.

“I am thrilled to be coming to Dalhousie and join a young program with great coaches,” says McSwiggan. “I am really excited to improve my basketball skills, create camaraderie with my teammates and get a once in a lifetime student-athlete experience.”

McSwiggan intends to enroll in Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Arts program in the fall.

“We’re really excited to welcome Bridget into the Tiger family,” says Stammberger. “With her solid 6’1 frame, she has the potential to develop into a great physical post player. We will be looking for Bridget to make an impact for the Tigers right away in rebounding and on defence.”

With a young Tigers squad, the women’s basketball team looks to challenge for an AUS playoff spot this season.
