Stammberger scores 21, leads Tigers past Varsity Reds 81-55

The Dalhousie Tigers came out of the gate running and defeated the UNB Varsity Reds 81-55 in their home opener at the Dalplex Friday night. Four Tigers starters finished in double digits and the Tigers led the whole game.

The Tigers sealed the game with a big fourth quarter, where they scored 27 points while limiting the Varsity Reds to only 12 points.

Tessa Stammberger led the way for the Tigers with a game-high 21 points on 9-12 shooting and added six rebound and three assists.

The Varsity Reds couldn't find their shooting stroke and shot 36.7% on the night. Their offense seemed to sputter at times and couldn't figure out Anna Stammberger's defensive schemes.

Ainsley MacIntyre's inside presence opened up wide open shots for the Tigers on the wings all night. She had a double double for the Tigers with 17 points and 10 assists.

Colleen Daley led the Varsity Reds with nine points, making three three-pointers on the night.

UNB's starting unit couldn't get it going offensively, combining for 13-38 on the night.

The teams will clash again tomorrow at the Dalplex at 2:00pm.
