Tigers add Sheppard for 2022-23

Dalhousie Tigers women’s track and field head coach Rich Lehman is pleased to announce the commitment of Lynn Sheppard for the 2022-23 season.

A sprinter, Sheppard races for Halifast Athletics. As a member of Team Nova Scotia at the 2019 National Legion Track and Field Championships, she finished in seventh in the 200m, and eighth in the 100m events. Last summer, the Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native finished second in her age category in the 100m and 200m races at the Athletics Nova Scotia Provincial Championships.

At the 2022 Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) Track and Field Provincial Championships, the Auburn Drive High School athlete won the 200m race in a time of 26.73 seconds, improving upon her 2019 second-place finish. She also took home the silver medal in the 100m event.

“I am very excited to join the team,” says Sheppard. “It has been my goal to race as a Dalhousie Tiger.”

The Principal’s List student will be studying biology at Dalhousie.

“Lynn's ceiling as a sprinter is extremely high,” says Lehman. “She is the reigning high school provincial 200m champion and has quite a bit of experience competing at the national level. I believe she will make an immediate impact at the U SPORTS level as part of our relay group and at the conference level in the individual sprints.”

The Tigers captured their 32nd straight AUS championship title this past season.
