Tigers add Popejoy for 2022-23 season

Dalhousie Tigers track and field and cross country coach Richard Lehman is pleased to announce the commitment of Dylan Popejoy for the 2022-23 season.

Hailing from Brockville, Ontario, Popejoy races for the Brockville Legion Track and Field Club. He has won multiple medals with the club, including bronze medals in the 800m events at both the Canadian Indoor Championships and the Royal Canadian Legion Provincial Championships. In 2020, Popejoy won a bronze medal in the indoor Ontario championships for his performance in the 800m.

The middle-distance runner also competes for St. Mary’s Catholic High School where he was named MVP for track and field and cross country. He graduated from St. Mary’s in June of 2021 as an Ontario Scholar.

Popejoy has personal best times of 49.98 seconds in the 400m and 1:54.00 in the 800m.

“I’m excited to compete at the university level with the Dalhousie Tigers,” says Popejoy.

Popejoy has been accepted into Dalhousie's Bachelor of Science program.

“Dylan comes to our program with personal bests in the 400m and 800m that immediately make us better,” says Lehman. “He'll be able to contribute at the national level in the 600m as well as the 4x400m and 4x800m relays.”

The men’s track and field team is looking forward to defending their AUS championship title later this spring.
