Poisson commits to Tigers for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s track and field head coach Rich Lehman is pleased to announce the commitment of Ali Poisson for the 2021-22 season.

A sprinter from Hammonds Plains, N.S., Poisson races for Halifast Athletics. A member of the Nova Scotia/Nunavut 2019 National Legion Track and Field Championship team, Poisson raced in the 200m and was a member of the 4x100m relay team. More recently she finished third in the 60m and 200m races at the 2020 Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Club Championship.

At the 2018-19 Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation provincial track and field meet, Poisson earned a bronze medal in both the 100m and 200m events. The 2018-19 Charles P. Allen High School Track and Field Rookie of the Year, Poisson will be working towards a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences while at Dalhousie.

“I’m beyond excited to run for Dalhousie in the upcoming season,” says Poisson.

“Ali is a talented athlete who we believe will add depth to our women's sprints and relay programs,” says Lehman. “As a Halifast athlete she is already familiar with our coaching staff and team which should make the transition to AUS competition smoother. She is a proven championship racer and will also bring leadership and tremendous team building skills.”
