Swim Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that Lance Cansdale, Swim Nova Scotia Provincial Coach has been appointed the 2017 Canada Games Lead Coach for swimming.

Lance brings with him a wealth of experience as an All-American swimmer.  With over twenty-five years’ experience as a competitive swimming professional, he is currently the Head Coach with the Dalhousie Tigers and Swim Nova Scotia Provincial Coach. He has been a Head Coach with the following universities / clubs: California State University – Bakersfield, Hyack Swim Club (New Westminster), Vernon Kokanee Swim Club and Simon Fraser University.  Lance has worked with Swim Nova Scotia’s Provincial program for nearly ten years and has a breadth of experience with National Teams, including: 1999 World Cup Tour, 2001, 2003 and 2005 World Championships, 2002 Commonwealth Games, 2013 and 2015 World University Games Team (as the Team Leader and Head Coach).

Lance grew up in British Columbia and completed a B.Sc. Ed (Physical Education) at Ouachita Baptist University (Arkansas) in 1986 and a M.Sc. in Education (Exercise Physiology concentration) at Texas Christian University in 1988.

Lance will be working with the Provincial Coaching Association to ensure our association’s performance goals are achieved at the Games.  The 2017 Canada Summer Games are scheduled to take place in Winnipeg, MB August 6-13, 2017.
