Tigers swim to impressive win at the Acadia Invitational

(WOLFVILLE, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers men and women swam to meet titles at the Acadia AUS Invitational in Wolfville, NS on Saturday.  

The Tigers finished first in 20 of the 26 events. Gavin Dyke and Phoebe Lenderyou lead the way for the men and women. Dyke placed first in both of his events with times of 1:57:14 in the 200m freestyle and 52:64 in the 100m freestyle. Lenderyou also finished first in both of her events posting times of 1:03.13 in the 100m backstroke and 2:23:55 in the 200m individual medley.

There were eleven Tigers swimmers that made it to the top of the podium.

The Dalhousie men captured eleven event wins, finishing the meet with a score of 150. To go along with Gavin Dyke's two wins, Tyler Immel-Herron, Alec Karlsen, and Keenan Teghtsoonian all won multiple events.

On the women's side the Tigers won a total of nine events to end the meet with a score of 150. Phoebe Lenderyou, Lise Cinq-Mars, and Claire Yurkovich all captured multiple event wins.

The Tigers concluded the meet with an impressive combined score of 300.

Acadia had several top three finishes including one first place finish from Brett Liem in the 50m freestyle. The Axemen finished the meet in second with a score of 46. The Axewomen finished in third with a score of 29. Acadia's combined score of 75 gave them an overall second-place finish.

The UNB Varsity Reds finished in third with a combined score of 70. The men registered one first-place finish from Justin LeBlanc, bringing their meet total to 33. The women finished second with a score of 37 with help from event winners Lauren Adam and Kayla Martin.

The UPEI Panthers finished the Acadia AUS Invitational with two event wins, both from Stephanie Hatayama. At the end of the day the men totaled a score of 16 and the women finished with 25 for a combined score of 41.

The Tigers next swim meet will be at the AUS Championships hosted by UPEI February 10-12.
