Tigers capture women's Kemp-Fry Invitational title

(Halifax, N.S.) – Dalhousie women and the McGill men swam to meet titles in the second and final day of the Kemp-Fry Invitational swim meet at Dalhousie on Sunday.

Dal's Phoebe Lenderyou set a new AUS record in the 200m back, besting her time from last season clocking in at 2:11.05. She set another record in the 50m back, beating Dal's Kiera Aitken's 2006 record with a time of 28.22. Not to be outdone, the Tigers Tony Liew also set a new AUS record, previously held by Acadia's Luc Boudreau (2014), in the 100m breaststroke, with a time of 1:02.32.

The Tigers had 14 swimmers post CIS qualifying times including Claire Yurkovich, Mackenzie Holden, Kyle Watson, Lise Cinq-Mars, Tony Liew, Phoebe Lenderyou, Morrgan Payne, Tyler Herron, Peter Inches, Lucy MacLeod, Gavin Dyke, Rachel Shin, Katie Webster and Keenan Teghtsoonian. The women's 400m medley relay team also posted a CIS qualifying time.

McGill had eight swimmers post CIS qualifying times including Jessica Warrack, Rebecca Gillis, David Whiteside, Katie Caldwell, Rhys Johnson, Luke Robert, Jean-Daniel Vallières and Simone Cseplo.

UNB's Lauren Adam won the 100m breaststroke and Charli LeBlanc posted a CIS qualifying time in the 50m free, winning in a time of 26.39.

Acadia's Rebecca MacPherson also posted CIS qualifying times with a first place finish in the 200m freestyle and a third place finish in the 200m back event.

At the end of day two, McGill's men captured three more events, bringing their meet total to 12. Dalhousie placed second, winning six events, for a total of 10.

On the women's side, Dalhousie won the meet, capturing five events today, bringing their meet total to 10. McGill had one win for second while UNB had two and Acadia one.
