TIGERS SWIM AWAY WITH LEGERE INVITATIONAL TITLE

(FREDERICTON, NB) The Dalhousie University swim team did it again. For another year, the Tigers are taking home team honours from UNB's Amby Legere Invitational meet.

Dal swimmers won 26 of 34 individual races while the Tigers' captured all three team events.

Tigers head coach Lance Cansdale wasn't expecting such early season dominance, given that 23 of his 31 swimmers are first or second year students. "We had first year kids winning events and we've got enough leadership that I think it's going to pull us through."

The annual UNB meet marks the opening of the Atlantic University Sport swimming season.

13 Tigers swimmers found themseleves at the top of the podium with second-year Phoebe Lenderyou and third-year Kyle Watson, winning four individual races each.First years Lise Cinq-Mars, Claire Yurkovich, Annie Douglas and Tyler Immel-Herron all won events in their first career AUS meets.

The Tigers grabbed top spot in the team events, more than doubling the second place team's point totals. The women won with 315.5 points while the men had 343.

The next swim meet is the Jack Scholz hosted by Acadia on October 31.
